316 vs 904 Stainless Steel – Which Should You Choose?

All our flue liner kits are available in 316 or 904 stainless steel, allowing you to match the liner grade to your fuel type and usage:

• 316 Stainless Steel: Suitable For: Wood, Gas, and Oil

• 904 Stainless Steel: Suitable For: Smokeless Coal, Wood, Gas, and Oil

If you plan to burn any amount of smokeless coal, the 904 liner is the recommended choice. Using smokeless coal with a 316 liner can cause damage to the liner and void any warranty.
